'TWAS TWO WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS

'Twas two weeks before Christmas, and all through the town,

The snow started falling – it really came down!

The tractors and snow blowers waited in the dark,

For their owners to get up and give them a start.

The families were nestled all snug in their beds,

No thought of the snowfall to worry their heads.

The weatherman had said it would be mainly sunny,

What was he thinking?  Does he think this is funny?

On the trees, in the yards, the snow started piling

The schools would be closed; the kids would be smiling

The roads became ice rinks, the driveways snowed-in,

Driving to work would be nothing but grim.

The clock turned to six when the small town awoke,

The blanket of snow trapped most of the folk.

Under drifts of snow-white, their cars were all buried.

How would we get out? Most of them worried

After a moment of silence, the panic set in

With so much to shovel, where would they begin?

The lights were still out, the sun not around,

What could be worse than the power being down?

Out came the boots, the hats and the mitts,

The executives snowed in, went into fits

The tractors, the snow blowers, the shovels appeared

In hopes of escaping as work time grew near.

The snow was so heavy and really quite thick,

The snow blowers jammed; tractors couldn’t do the trick.

So back to the shovel, the people all went,

Hunched over the handle, back all a-bent.

Now Back Pain!  Now Shoulder!  Now Elbow!  Now Neck!

The wet heavy snow made their bodies a wreck!

To the end of the walk, to the end of the drive,

When they were finished, they were barely alive!

So into their houses, the people returned,

Now finished with shoveling, their muscles they burned

Exhausted and aching, they flopped on the couch

But no one could sit without saying ouch.

They remembered a place where they could get some relief,

Bragg Creek Physio would ease all their grief

So they opened their doors to weary town folk

Who had shoveled the snow ‘til their bodies had broke.

For back pain – a massage, for shoulders a stretch

Hands-on worked wonders for joints that would catch.

Acupuncture for pain, inflammation and the like,

It’s a wee little needle, not really a spike!

The weary, the aching, the “bent-over-with-pain”

Came to seek treatment again and again.

The physio got them moving, the massage eased their muscles

And the staff all kept pace with the hustle and bustle.

Each shoveler that came in had the same story to tell

“The snow was too heavy.  I couldn’t lift very well.”

But each one received care unique to their pain,

Physios don’t believe in treating all just the same.

They treated each shoveler, and sent them back home

With exercise and stretches to do on their own.

Their happy new muscles were a wintertime wealth

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD HEALTH!
